Overview
At BWI, we offer a dynamic and comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with the practical skills and knowledge necessary for success in their chosen fields. Our faculty members, who are experts in their domains, are dedicated to fostering an environment of innovation and critical thinking. Through hands-on training, experiential learning, and internship opportunities, students are empowered to become competent middle-level technicians, aspiring engineers, agriculturists, and business professionals.
Our Regular program encompasses a wide range of vocational and technical disciplines, ensuring that students have diverse options to pursue their passions and interests. These programs include:

Recognizing the importance of providing a conducive learning environment, BWI offers both boarding and day accommodations for regular students. Our Boarding students receive three square meals and regular electricity daily. Our dormitory facilities undergo continuous improvements to ensure safety, comfort, and convenience for our boarding students. Meanwhile, day students are encourage to find suitable and safe accommodations in the city of Kakata and its environment.
To promote holistic development, we offer a variety of sports and recreational activities, including access to DSTV facilities for entertainment, field trips, competition, etc. Our library is equipped with internet connectivity and houses a vast collection of updated textbooks, facilitating research and academic excellence among students.
At BWI, we are committed to ongoing evaluation and enhancement of our Regular programs and facilities to meet the evolving needs of our students.
Duration
Our Regular Program offer a structured four(4)-year curriculum that guides students through their educational journey from freshman to senior year. This progression ensures a comprehensive and immersive learning experience, allowing students to build upon their skills and knowledge with each passing year.
1. Freshman Year: In the first year of the program, students lay the foundation for their chosen field of studies. They engage in introductory courses and hands-on training, gaining fundamental skills essential for success in their respective disciplines.
2. Sophomore Year: Building upon the foundation established in the freshman year, students delve deeper into specialized coursework and practical training. They explore advanced concepts and techniques, preparing them for more complex challenges ahead.
3. Junior Year: By the junior year, students have developed a solid understanding of their field and begin to focus on specialized areas of interest within their discipline. They participate in intermediate coursework and practical projects, honing their skills and preparing for real-world applications.
4. Senior Year: In the final year of the program, students refine their skills and knowledge through advanced coursework, practical projects, and industry internships. They demonstrate mastery of their field and prepare for entry into the workforce or further education opportunities.
Throughout each year of the program, students engage in a combination of classroom instruction, projects, hands-on training, experiential learning opportunities, and regular secondary academic subjects.
Eligibility and Entrance Application Processes
Prospective students who wish to enroll at the Booker Washington Institute (BWI) Regular program must meet the following criteria and adhere to the outlined application process:
1. Completion of Ninth(9th)-grade education in a Junior High School accredited by the Ministry of Education.
2. Payment of an affordable fee of USD$15.00 (subject to adjustment) for the Entrance Examination fees and information package.
3. Submission of the completed entrance application form to the Office of Admission and Records at BWI or the designated location where the Admissions package was purchased. Application form should be neatly filled out and placed in a long-hanging folder and return at least one day before the scheduled entrance date.
4. Encouragement for candidates to attend career/guidance counseling session conducted one day before the entrance test. Candidates participating in the counseling session are provided with supper and accommodation in the dormitories overnight. BWI Administration provides breakfast for candidates before the commencement of the test.
5. Successful completion of a written examination covering Mathematics, General Science, and English Language.
Required Documents for Successful Candidates
Upon successful completion of the entrance examination and selection process at the Booker Washington Institute (BWI) Regular program, candidates are required to provide the following documents for enrollment.
1. 9th Grade Report Card: Original and a photocopy of the 9th-grade report card. The original will be returned immediately after inspection.
2. WAEC Certificate or Evidence of Sitting the WAEC: Submission of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) certificate if available, or evidence of sitting the WAEC examination.
3. Medical Assessment and Certificate: Medical assessment conducted by the BWI Clinic and subsequent issuance of certificate to ensure the candidate’s physical and mental fitness for enrollment. The medical examination and certificate fee is $ 1,000 LRD (subject to adjustment).
4. Letters of Recommendation: Two letters of recommendation—one from the candidate’s previous school and another from a community member or leader. These letters should attest to the candidate’s character, academic performance, and suitability for enrollment at BWI.
5. Academic Transcripts: Submission of academic transcripts for grades 7, 8, and 9 to provide a comprehensive overview of the candidate’s academic history and performance.
Registration Activities and Procedures
All successful candidates, returning, and re-admission students are required to adhere to the following procedures during the registration period of the Regular program.
For Successful Candidates:
1. Proceed to the Cashier’s Office to make payment for the medical assessment and certificate fee.
2. Visit the BWI Clinic for medical screening.
3. Proceed to the Office of Admission and Records to present the medical certificate and other required documents for verification.
4. Accompanied by parents/guardians, proceed to the Counseling Section with three (3) passport-sized photos (one of the student and two of both parents) to sign the student’s behavior bond.
5. Return to the Office of Admission and Records to obtain letter of Admission/Acceptance.
6. Collect tuition/fees and uniform deposit slips from the Accounts Section on the main campus.
7. Deposit tuition/fees at any designated SIB/LBDI bank branches across Liberia.
8. Return to the BWI campus with payment slips from the bank and continue the registration process.
For Returning Students:
9. Collect tuition/fees and uniform deposit slips from the Accounts Section on the main campus.
10. Deposit tuition/fees at any designated SIB/LBDI bank branches across Liberia.
11. Return to the BWI campus with payment slips from the bank and continue the registration process.
For Re-admission Students:
12. Students must have notified the institution through written communication to the Office of Admission and Records stating reasons for dropping from school.
13. Students will be given the re-admission form for signatures of the responsible offices. USD $ 10 (subject to adjustment) will be paid as re-admission fee.
14. Letter of acceptance will be issued to re-admission students by the Office of Admission and Records
15. Collect tuition/fees and uniform deposit slips from the Accounts Section on the main campus.
16. Deposit tuition/fees at any designated SIB/LBDI bank branches across Liberia.
17. Return to the BWI campus with payment slips from the bank and continue the registration process.
For Successful Candidates, Returning, and Re-admission Students:
18. Begin at the Office of Admission and Records to obtain the registration form.
19. Fill in the registration form and proceed to the department of your chosen discipline for signature.
20. Visit the Dean’s Section for further signature approval.
21. Go to the Accounts Section for verification of deposit slips.
22. Proceed to the Cashier’s Office with verified payment slips from the bank to obtain an official school receipt for tuition/fees and uniforms.
23. Return to the Accounts Section with the official school receipt and payment deposit for recording and additional signature.
24. Visit the Internal Audit Section for a review of receipts/slips.
25. Dormitory students should proceed to the Dean’s Section to obtain a dormitory accommodation slip.
26. Finally, return to the Office of Admission and Records with the completed registration form, dormitory accommodation slip, tuition/fees receipt, and or guarantor’s slip to obtain a class admittance slip.

Note: BWI will not assume responsibility for mobile phones or any electronic gadget on campus. No mobile phone (s) will be allowed during class hours. Violators will have their phones seized and returned to them at the end of the school year. All electronic gadgets and valuables must be declared and registered in the Deans’ office during admission to the dormitories.
