BWI Japan Heavy Equipment Operator School
Overview
The Excavator Operator Program coordinated by the Post-Secondary and Professional Programs in collaboration with the Automotive and Heavy Equipment Department at the Booker Washington Institute, stands as a testament to the commitment towards equipping individuals with specialized skills. This program originated from the partnership forged in 2013 between the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and Komatsu Ltd., a prominent Japanese heavy equipment manufacturer. This initiative reflects a shared vision of promoting industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization, and environmental sustainability.
Dedicated to fostering competence in heavy-duty equipment operation, the Excavator Operator Training Program embodies an intensive three-month curriculum designed to empower both workers and unemployed youths with practical expertise. With a curriculum finely tuned to industry standards, practical training constitutes a significant eighty percent (80%) of the total training hours, ensuring participants are equipped with hands-on experience crucial for success in the field. Moreover, recognizing the diverse needs of companies, we extend our services beyond standard programs. Customized short-term training options are available to cater to the specific requirements of individual businesses, thereby enhancing the skill set of their employees and fostering organizational growth.
Through this program, we do not only cultivate proficient excavator operators but also contribute towards building a skilled workforce poised to drive sustainable industrial development and economic progress in Liberia.
Duration
The Excavator Operator Program follows a meticulously structured duration to ensure comprehensive skill development:
1st month – Foundation: The inaugural month serves as the foundation-building phase where participants delve into theoretical concepts, safety protocols, and foundational principles of excavator operation. Through immersive classroom sessions and expert instruction, trainees lay the groundwork for their practical journey ahead.
2nd month – Simulator: Transitioning from theory to application, the second month is dedicated to simulator-based training. Utilizing state-of-the-art simulators, participants engage in realistic virtual scenarios to hone their operational skills, enhance decision-making abilities, and develop a deep understanding of excavator functionalities in a controlled environment.
3rd month – Hands-on Experience : The culmination of the program unfolds in the third month where participants transition to hands-on experience with actual excavators. Under the guidance of experienced mentors and instructors, trainees apply their acquired knowledge and skills in real-world settings, gaining invaluable practical experience in excavator operation.
By meticulously dividing the program into these distinct phases, participants undergo a comprehensive learning journey that ensures they emerge as proficient and confident excavator operators, ready to excel in the dynamic and demanding field of heavy equipment operation.
