Overview
The General Building Trades Department of the Booker Washington Institute is organized into four distinct sections: Architecture Drafting & Design Technology, Carpentry & Joinery Technology, Masonry Construction Technology, and Plumbing & Pipe Fitting Technology. Each section is overseen by an Assistant Associate Coordinator who reports to an Associate Coordinator. Ultimately, the Associate Coordinators report to the Industrial Coordinator.
Courses within the department are structured across various levels, accommodating students from freshmen to seniors. The curriculum emphasizes a balanced approach, with sixty percent dedicated to practical application and forty percent to theoretical understanding. This approach is crucial in nurturing middle-level technicians who are not only well-versed in theory but also equipped with hands-on skills essential for the job market and entrepreneurship.
