Domestic Science Short-term Skills Training

Overview

The Booker Washington Institute (BWI) Domestic Science Short-Term Professional Skills Training Program provides a dynamic opportunity for individuals to acquire, enhance, or elevate their practical skills in Domestic Science. With a legacy of excellence spanning numerous years, this program is esteemed for its dedication to skills development. Participants engage in specialized training across key disciplines essential for career progression and entrepreneurial pursuits, including Catering Management, Tailoring and Interior Decoration, and Hotel and Restaurant Management.

Duration

The program covers a duration of six (6) months, offering a comprehensive blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills development. Through a carefully crafted curriculum, participants gain a deep understanding of industry best practices and practical expertise vital for success in their chosen fields. Upon successful completion of the program, participants receive a Professional Certificate from BWI affirming their proficiency and readiness to excel in their respective disciplines.

Eligibility and Entrance Application Processes

Prospective students aspiring to enroll in the Short-Term Skill Training Program at BWI/PSPP must fulfill the following prerequisites:

1. Educational Qualification: Candidate must be at least a Junior High Student.

2. Application Package: Applicants are required to purchase the Application Package, priced at USD$15.00(subject to adjustment). This package serves as the gateway to the assessment process.

3. Medical Assessment and Certificate: Medical assessment conducted by the BWI Clinic and subsequent issuance of certificate to ensure the candidate’s physical and mental fitness for enrollment. The medical examination and certificate fee is $ 1,000 LRD (subject to adjustment).

4. Submission of Application Form: Applicants must submit the completed application form to the Post-Secondary & Professional Programs Registrar’s Office. This submission must occur at least one day before the scheduled interview date. The completed application form and the medical certificate from BWI Clinic should be placed in a hanging folder (long size) with two recent passport-size photos.

5. Interview: Candidates must sit for and pass an oral interview.

Requirements for Entrance Successful Candidates

Successful candidates are expected to provide the following during the registration process:

1. Evidence of Junior High Education

2. Any other information as may be required.

Note:

Successful candidates with verified documents will be given a letter of acceptance.

Registration Activities and Procedures 

During the registration process, all successful candidates must adhere to the following step-by-step procedures:

a. Visit the Registrar’s Office with all required documents for inspection. Here, you will obtain your admission letter, control sheet, and class schedule.

b. Proceed to your department to meet with an assigned adviser who will assist you in planning and registering your courses.

c. Visit the Business and Finance Office (BFO) for billing by an Account Staff. Upon completion of billing, obtain a deposit slip from the same office.

d. Proceed to the designated bank and deposit your training fees. Ensure to collect your copy of the deposit slip from the teller.

e. Return to BWI campus with the payment slip from the bank and continue with your registration process.

f. Go to the Cashier’s Office with your copy of the deposit slip from the bank and obtain the official school.

g. Visit the Internal Audit Unit for verification of the receipt.

h. Return to the General Coordinator’s Office for signature.

i. Finally, conclude the process by returning to the Registrar’s Office for signature and submission of a copy of your control sheet. By completing this step, you are now officially a registered student of the BWI-PSPP Domestic Science Short-term Skills Training Program.
