Sports

 Athletics play an important part in student life at Booker Washington Institute. Whether as a participant or spectator each student experiences a sense of pride, excitement and accomplishment. The Tigers of BWI is a force to reckon with in the following sporting disciplines:  Football, kickball, basketball, volleyball, handball and track and field. Over 50% of the student body actively participates in our extensive sport program involving these various teams.

Kickball

Our female students have embraced the idea of being good and discipline athletes by participating in the games of the squad that makes up BWITigers(Kickball Team). Over the years, our kickball team has being a formidable force in Kakata and throughout Liberia. These girls have been a proud of our Institution

Soccer

Booker Washington Institute has had phenomenal athletic success in the past years capturing more league titles than any other league school over the years. The school, in the past, sponsored the classic BWI Olympics, which drew schools from around the country to BWI campus in Kakata, Liberia. In the near future, the Athletic Department, through the support of the BWI’s administration, will recommence the BWI Olympics.

Volley Ball

The BWI Tigers phenomenal success in sports is due to the quality of an experienced coaching staff and the overall enthusiastic response of our student athletes. Our head coaches are educators and as such, realize the primary importance of performance in the classroom. The discipline and respect generated in the academic area, along with the spirit and enthusiasm of hundreds of students have resulted in a competitive and highly successful athletic program at Booker Washington Institute.
